perimenopause

Twelve small circular cartoon images depicting various perimenopause symptoms, including memory problems, joint pain, insomnia, libido change, irregular periods, hot flashes, hair/skin changes, weight gain, mood changes, night sweats, headaches.

A quick internet search might tell you there are 34 symptoms of perimenopause. Or 60. Or 101. (Seriously, the numbers are all over the place!) Most of us don’t even realize our symptoms are connected to hormones or that perimenopause has started.

The symptoms can seem way too random to be related. A new ADD diagnosis here, a new food allergy there. Maybe tennis elbow and menstrual migraines. Or maybe you’re just really, REALLY fed up with your spouse, your kids, and that one coworker who won’t stop chewing so loud. How about those ITCHY EARS!?!

If we compiled everything women experienced, the internet’s top hit would probably be: “The Eleventy Billion Symptoms of Perimenopause.”

Despite all the possible symptoms, the most common thing care providers hear from women starting perimenopause is, “I just don’t feel like myself.”

If you are over 40 (or even in your late 30s), still have periods, and can’t shake the feeling that something’s changing Seattle Menopause Doula can help you make sense of what’s happening and figure out what to do about it. You don’t have to suffer in silence or do this alone.

menopause

“Now what?”

The roller coaster of perimenopause ends. Your period has finally stopped. This is menopause.

It’s likely you still have a lot of the same symptoms you had in perimenopause. You may also have super fun (ha!) new ones like frozen shoulder, heart palpitations, or reduced libido. You may feel exhausted, which would be no surprise: Your brain and body are completely rewiring. It’s a big adjustment! And, almost nothing about this process is convenient.

You can’t turn back time, but you don’t have to just “deal with it” either. You can take some control of how you move forward, preserving your sanity and your long-term health. With tools like hormone therapy, sleep, movement, and nutrition, you can build routines that actually support you. Together, these tools can help you feel like yourself again — or better.

Stop wondering, “Now what?” and start shaping your next chapter. Book your free 20-minute discovery call or an initial intake appointment and let’s make a plan that works for you.
